NPEC 18

Welcome to the Official Website of the National Power Engineering Conference NPEC-18 organized by the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Tiruparankundram, Madurai, Tamilnadu, India. Electrical Power is vital for societal development and the welfare of people. Power engineering also known as power system engineering is a subset of energy engineering and electrical engineering that deals with generation, transmission, utilization and distribution of electric power and also the electrical devices including generators, transformers and motors connected to such systems. In this context the college has regularly organized National Power Engineering Conference (NPEC) in 2005, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2015. Now, it has been planned to organize sixth ‘National Power Engineering Conference (NPEC-18)’. This conference will create an opportunity for the researchers and academicians in exploring the latest developments, practices, future trends in power engineering. This will also allow the experts in power engineering to meet, share ideas and present their original work. NPEC-18 is comprised of keynote sessions, tutorials, exhibits and regular technical sessions on latest cutting edge research technologies that address the current issues in Power Engineering sector.

TCE

Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE), Madurai, Tamil Nadu established in 1957, is an autonomous institution affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. It is one among the several educational and philanthropic institutions founded by Philanthropist and Industrialist Late. Shri. Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar. TCE offers 8 Undergraduate Programmes, 13 Postgraduate Programmes and Doctoral Programmes in Engineering, Science and Architecture. The UG and PG programmes of TCE are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation. TCE is ranked among the top 40 engineering institutions in India in the National Institutional Ranking published by MHRD, Govt. of India. TCE has introduced Outcome Based Education and Bloom's Taxonomy-based evaluation process in all UG and PG programmes. Interaction of TCE with industries has led to the establishment of State-of-the-art laboratory facilities and collaborative academic programs. TCE has established TIFAC-CORE in Wireless Technologies and an incubated company "Thiagarajar Telekom Solutions Limited".

EEE

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1957 and offers UG programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) and PG programmes in Power Systems Engineering and Control & Instrumentation Engineering. These programmes are accredited by the NBA. The department is funded by the FIST, DST, AICTE, UGC, TNCST, DRDO, BARC, BRNS, So far 24 projects around cost of Rs.2.30 Crores has been received. The faculty of EEE department is doing active research in the major areas of power & energy. So far, 110 Ph.D degree have been awarded and currently 115 research scholars are pursuing Ph.D. Out of 31 faculty, 26 faculty posses Ph.D. qualification additionally 3 faculty having Post-doctoral research experience. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department usually organizes many technical workshops for the benefit of industrial personnel’s, faculty and students. Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering have won the “Best Industry Linked Technical Institutions” award instituted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) for the year 2014. The Department M.E.-Power system Engineering programme is accredited by NBA under Tier I accreditation for 5 years.
